NMS is rewarding students for reading independently at school. Students can pick up a sheet in front of the office to track reading. They will then read for 10 minutes a day, write a short summary, have an adult sign that they read, and turn the sheet into the office to be eligible for that day's prize.
Many people have inquired about whether or not spectators will be allowed at upcoming home athletic contests. Since Malheur County is now in the "Moderate" risk range, a certain number of people are allowed inside the facilities to watch. We are issuing tickets to athletes for the games to distribute to their families. There will be no other tickets issued. You cannot enter without a ticket. Everyone in attendance has to record their name, and must be screened in order to enter. If you are not assigned to be working the game or event or do not have a pass please do not expect to enter. No spectators from visiting teams will be allowed, and Nyssa families will not be able to attend games at other schools. This is much different from previous years and we ask for your cooperation as we try to keep our students competing. For those not able to attend in person, you can watch the games on the internet. The main cafeteria is our approved open site for the online or
quarantined students to pick up their food. In order to avoid any overlap of quarantined people with students and staff on campus, we ask that those coming to pick up food for quarantined or online students do so between the hours of 10:00 to 10:30 am each day. Thank you!
We will be having our scheduled COVID testing today, February 18, 2021 in the Nyssa High School parking lot.
Valley Family Health Clinic will be here testing from 1:30-3:30pm.
This is a drive-thru clinic. They will allow walk-ups if needed.
Please enter by the high school and exit by the district office.
Rapid tests will be used and individuals will be swabbing themselves.
All community members are welcome to attend.
This is an optional testing clinic and not required.

We knew that coming back to school in person would present some risk of people getting exposed to COVID. As you may know, we currently have 3 positive COVID cases in our schools--2 at the high school and 1 at the elementary school. None of these positive cases were spread at school, but because these individuals were at school while having symptoms of COVID, they exposed others to the illness, requiring others to have to quarantine. If your child is having symptoms of illness, please do not send them to school. Please get them tested for COVID to make sure they are not exposing others to this illness. Thank you for helping our students to stay in school.

Sabiamos que regresar a la escuela presentaria riesgo a los estudiantes y adultos a COVID. Como quizas saben, tenemos 3 casos positivos de COVID en el distrito--2 en el high school y 1 en la escuela primaria. Ninguno de estos casos ocurrio en la escuela pero estas personas estaban en la escuela con sintomas de la enfermedad, y tuvieron algun contacto con otros, requiriendo cuarentena de varias personas en la escuela. Si su hijo tiene sintomas de enfermedad, por favor, no les envien a la escuela. Si tienen sintomas, es mejor que reciben un examen para ver si tienen COVID. Gracias por su cooperacion para que los estudiantes puedan quedarse en la escuela.

NES Parents: beginning Monday, 2/8, we will add a second morning drop off location. In addition to the main lot drop off, parents may also drop off students on the south side of Bower Avenue (side closest to the school). As always, please make sure to check in with school staff on duty before leaving students.
