Here is the recipient this week of our Olympic Torch, chosen by Mrs. Aguas. Here's what was shared: "I would like to pass the torch to Ms. Tricia Book. Ms. Book has been doing an excellent job as our Elementary Vice Principal. She does a great job in communicating information about our school with staff, students and parents. She also does many extra things to keep kids and staff excited about being at NES. She is always willing to step in and help wherever needed. There are many things behind the scenes that she does that do not go unnoticed. I appreciate her dedication and commitment to our school!" Congrats Ms. Book! ¡Aquí está la persona elegida esta semana para recibir nuestra Antorcha Olímpica, seleccionada por la Sra. Aguas! Esto fue lo que compartió: "Quiero pasar la antorcha a la Sra. Today we celebrated the 100th day of school! Our Elementary students and staff had a blast dressing up as if they were 100 years old. Across Nyssa School District, the dedication and hard work of many have made these first 100 days a success. Thank you to our amazing students, teachers, staff, and community for your effort, commitment, and support. Let’s keep learning and finish the school year strong! ¡Hoy celebramos el día 100 de clases! Nuestros estudiantes y personal de primaria se divirtieron vistiéndose como si tuvieran 100 años. A lo largo del Distrito Escolar de Nyssa, la dedicación y el trabajo duro de muchos han hecho que estos primeros 100 días sean un éxito. Gracias a nuestros increíbles estudiantes, maestros, personal y comunidad por su esfuerzo, compromiso y apoyo. ¡Sigamos aprendiendo y terminemos el año escolar con fuerza!

Here is the next recipient of our Olympic Torch, chosen by Wendy, Lola, and Christy. Here is what was shared: "We have chosen Mrs. Carrie Aguas for many reasons. Mrs. Aguas is always such a big help to our group. If one of us is gone, or needs help with a few students, she always helps out without any hesitation. She is patient and kind to everyone around her. She also helps plan events and reaches out to parents in order to help students be successful in school. Every student that works with her always says how they love working with her and have a fun time in her learning groups. We want to thank her for everything she does at Nyssa Elementary! :)" Congrats Mrs. Aguas! Aquí está la siguiente persona en recibir nuestra Antorcha Olímpica, elegida por Wendy, Lola y Christy. This week, we have multiple people that were chosen by Mrs. Esplin for our Olympic Torch. Here is what she said: "I would like to pass the torch to the three amazing ladies I am lucky enough to work with everyday. They are all three awesome and I couldn't choose just one of them. Christy Valero, Lola Diaz, and Wendy Segura are smart, dedicated, hardworking, and patient. They are always thinking of great ideas to improve their groups and our intervention system. There is no way I could do what I do without them - plus, they are just fun to be around!" Congrats Christy, Lola, and Wendy! Esta semana, tenemos varias personas que fueron elegidas por la Sra. Esplin para recibir nuestra Antorcha Olímpica. Esto es lo que dijo: "Quisiera pasar la antorcha a las tres increíbles mujeres con las que tengo la suerte de trabajar todos los días. Come and enjoy a special day of learning and valuable information Thursday, February 20th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. We will be joined by our special guest, Mario Magaña, who will share his journey and experience on the topic "The Price of Education." His message (which will be in Spanish) will be a great opportunity for reflection, motivation, and growth. In addition, we will have tables with community resource information to support families and gift baskets giveaway. ¡Te invitamos a un evento especial en familia! Ven a disfrutar un día especial de aprendizaje y lleno de información el jueves 20 de febrero de 6:00 a 8:00 pm. Nos acompañará Mario Magaña como invitado especial que compartirá su trayectoria y experiencia con el tema "El Precio de la Educación". Su mensaje (dado en Español) será una oportunidad para reflexionar, motivarnos y crecer juntos. Además, tendremos mesas con servicios sociales para apoyar a las familias y rifa de regalos.

Today we celebrated National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day! We are grateful for our amazing SRO, Officer Rodriguez! His commitment and dedication to keeping our school safe and supporting our Nyssa community do not go unnoticed. Thank you, Office Rodriguez, for all that you do! ¡Hoy celebramos el Día Nacional de Agradecimiento a los Oficiales de Recursos Escolares! Estamos muy agradecidos por nuestro increíble oficial, ¡el Oficial Rodríguez! Parents & Community, At this time Nyssa School District will operate a full school day. We are monitoring the road conditions closely and will communicate any changes regarding an early release as soon as that determination is made. All after school activities have been canceled. The district recognizes the hardship for an early release for all our families and will take that into consideration when making the determination. She goes above and beyond, not only in her professional role but also in the sacrifices she makes for the betterment of the students.
