Substitute Teaching

To substitute in Oregon, a person must hold a valid Oregon Teaching License issued by Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC). If you currently hold an Oregon Teaching, or Substitute, License and would like to register as a substitute for Nyssa School District please contact Malheur ESD at 541-473-4833. All substitute teachers must complete necessary steps with Malheur ESD before becoming an active substitute for Nyssa School District.

Substitute Pay Rates:

Full Day: $232.14

Half Day: $116.07

  • In accordance to District policy GCDA/GDDA, newly hired full-time and part-time employees not requiring licensure will undergo a criminal records check and/or fingerprinting. Other individuals, as determined by the district, that will have direct, unsupervised contact with students shall also have criminal records checks and/or fingerprinting, as required by law.
