Parents and Students,
The Nyssa School District is aware of the Tik Tok threat that says violence will occur at schools across the nation on Dec. 17 (today). There is no specific threat to the Nyssa School District that we know of, but out of an abundance of caution, we have notified our local police and they will be present in each of our school buildings throughout the day today. We thank all who have let us know of these threats, and assure you that we take them seriously. Please continue to communicate with your local school leaders, and police if you are aware of anything that would cause concern for the safety of our students and staff.

Dear Nyssa Families,
We are sending this communication to make sure you are all aware of a lockdown we had this morning. There was a report of a man with a gun adjacent to the property of the school, near the baseball field. Police responded immediately, spoke with the man, and determined he was hunting with a pellet gun and was not a threat to students or staff. He was not on school property. Due to the police intervention, we were able to remove the lockdown and return to normal school activities.
We apologize for any alarm this may have caused. We are grateful for the swift and decisive action by the Nyssa Middle School staff and the Nyssa police department. All students are safe, and there was never a threat to students or staff.

The Nyssa School District is once again collecting Toys for Tots applications for the community. We will be hosting an application sign up event today from 11 am - 1 pm at the District office. You can also sign up anytime at the Elementary and Middle School before December 1st. We are also available for late evening sign ups until December. Thank you.
