Here is this weeks recipient of our Olympic Torch, chosen by Mr. Blanchard. Here is what he said: "The recipient I have chosen this week is Brad Dalton. Mr. Dalton is a rare educator who is certified and teaches both advanced sciences and advanced mathematics. He holds his students to high rigorous standards of performance, yet keeps mathematics interesting and inviting. He is also a teacher who is not afraid to try new things or lead the way in teaching new classes. The new Applied Mathematics course which he has taken on gives students at Nyssa High School an additional path through the world of mathematics. Yet always be careful of anyone who is a Dallas Cowboys fan, especially this year." Congrats Mr. Dalton! Aquí está el receptor de la Antorcha Olímpica de esta semana, elegido por el Sr. Blanchard. We had a great Christmas Concert put on by our Nyssa Elementary students! Last night our Middle School and High School band put on a great concert for our Nyssa School District families and community! Our Elementary School will be having their Christmas Concert this Thursday, December 12th. Here are the times for each group/grades. Here is the recipient of our Olympic Torch this week, chosen by Mrs. Lazo. Here is what she said: "My selection for the next recipient is Mr. Blanchard. In the past 23 years, he has been not only my mentor, peer, teacher, but a friend. When I initially started, he was the one that helped me navigate the dos and don'ts within the school setting. He facilitated my transition as a new teacher. He re-taught and still does re-teach me anything that I might have forgotten about math. He is my chocolate supplier when I am feeling stressed. He is the one I vent to when I am having a hard week or month. Mr. Blanchard continuously teaches me how to be strong and navigate not just work but life. I would like to thank him for all his years of service to our school for his passion and dedication to his students. However, I would like to specially thank him for guiding me to be the best teacher I could be. Mr. Blanchard, you are truly a great professional! Once again, thank you!" Congrats Mr. Blanchard! Here is the next recipient of our Olympic Torch, chosen by Mrs. Davis. Here is what she had to say: "It is an honor to work with a true bilingual linguistic wizard such as Martha Lazo. She doesn't just teach language—she brings it to life! Whether she’s juggling middle schoolers or high schoolers, she does it all with humor, intelligence, and the occasional kick in the pants we all need. Martha is my go to mentor for all things language related X2! She even edits my emails and/or homework from time to time. She is knowledgeable in all things Title 3, biliteracy seal certifications, dual language, contract issues, and professionalism. She is dedicated to her students and quietly works day to day going above and beyond without the recognition she deserves. My admiration for her outweighs my fear of nominating her as the next recipient of the famed NSD Olympic Torch. So here’s to you, Martha, the teacher who can handle semicolons, second languages, staff, and students like a pro!" Congrats Martha! Our K-2 Dance Team, led by Mrs. Burbank, had a fun dance routine for our Elementary Awards Assembly yesterday! The next performance by the 3rd-5th grade team will be in December. Mr. Carlton has put vast amounts of time and effort into supporting staff and students during the school day and after school hours. Mr. Carlton’s dedication to students and his culinary skills are legendary and he has the patience of a saint (sometimes 🤣)." Congrats Chris! Today, our Elementary School held a Veterans Day Assembly to honor those who serve or have served our country. It was wonderful to see our local veterans in attendance, receiving the honor and respect they deserve from our Nyssa students and staff. Our Wall of Honor, proudly displaying photos and stories of our local heroes, reminds us of their dedication and sacrifice. THANK YOU to all our veterans for their service to our country! Hoy, la Escuela Primaria realizó una asamblea del Día de los Veteranos para honrar a quienes sirven o han servido a nuestro país.
