Migrant Education Program Region 21

The Migrant Education Program provides supplemental education and other needs for children ages 3-21 who move frequently because they, their parents or guardians move due to economic necessity and work in agriculture, fishery or forestry. Since 1966 the United States Government has affored this assistance to families who work in agriculture. The program is available in every US state and Puerto Rico.

Who May Qualify?

Youth under the age of 21 who have moved from their county, city or state in the last three years with a migratory worker to work in agriculture or fishing, and have not yet graduated or obtained a GED, may be eligible. The Migrant Program was designed to help the students who have the migratory style life with graduation.

Eligible Work

if you work in agriculture, farms, ranches, dairies, orchards, nurseries or greenhouses dedicated to growing and harvesting plants, grazing or feeding livestock you may be eligible. Fishing jobs that include the initial processing of fish, shellfish as well as raising and harvesting fish or shellfish on fish farms are eligible jobs.

El Programa de Educación Migrante es ayuda de educación suplementaria y otras nececidades para los niños entre los 3-21 años de edad, que se mueven con frecuencia, debido a que ellos mismos, sus padres o tutores se mueven por nesecidad economica y

trabajan en agricultura,pesca o actividades forestales. Desde 1996, el gobierno de Estados Unidos ha ofrecido está ayuda a las familias que trabajan en agricultura. El programa está disponible en todos los Estados Unidos y Puerto Rico.

¿Quién Califica?

Los jóvenes menores de 22 años que se hayan mudado de su condado, ciudad o estado en los últimos tres años con un trabajador para trabajar en agricultura o pesca y que aún no se hayan graduado o obtenido un GED, pueden ser elegibles. El programa Migrante esta diseñado para ayudar also jóvenes con un estilo de vida migratorio

Trabajos Elegibles

Si han trabajado en agricultura, granjas, ranchos, lecherias, huertos, viveros o invernaderos dedicados al cultivo y cosecha de plantas, pastores o alimentación de ganado, podrian ser eliegibles. Los trabajos de pesca que incluyen el procesamiento inicial de pescado y mariscos, asi como la criá y recolección de pescado o mariscos en piscifactorias son trabajos elegibles.
