Our new playground is officially dedicated to all our Bullpups and our amazing Nyssa community! 💙🐾 We can’t wait to see our students enjoying it on the first day of school!

Welcome Back Nyssa Elementary Families and Staff!

I hope your summer was filled with family, adventure, and fun! We all needed to hit the "reset button". I have heard from our staff and families of great trips, staff going to conferences, teachers going back to school to start their Master's programs, and training that has been offered throughout the summer for professional development. We have also had some school improvement activities going on at Nyssa Elementary and a couple of new staff and assignments.

Let me introduce the new staff and assignments:
Mrs. Ashby- 3rd grade (new assignment)
Mrs. Pennington- 5th grade (new assignment)
Mrs. Dolby- 4th grade (new staff member)
Mrs. Garcilazo- Health/PE teacher (new staff member)
Mrs. Heninger- 1st grade (new assignment)
Ms. Escobedo- 5th grade (new assignment)

We want to engage with you and your family. Our Back to School night is Thursday, August 14. 5:00-7:00 pm. There will be a playground dedication at 5:00 and Bullpup Talk to meet the principals at 6:00.

Throughout the year we desire to have more volunteers supporting our teachers in the classroom and student learning. Search Institute has identified parent support and involvement in their child’s school as one of the 40 developmental assets needed for greater student success. For your information, annually each volunteer must complete a background check and be cleared to volunteer in the Nyssa schools. There is no cost to our volunteers, knowing your time is valuable we want to make it easier for you.

Nyssa Elementary Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is also needing parents to support the activities and fundraising needs of the school. Please contact our PTO at nyssapto@gmail.com.

Espero que su verano haya estado lleno de momentos en familia, aventuras y diversión. Todos necesitábamos presionar el “botón de reinicio”. He escuchado de nuestro personal y familias sobre grandes viajes, personal que asistió a conferencias, maestros que regresaron a la escuela para iniciar sus programas de maestría, y entrenamientos ofrecidos durante el verano para su desarrollo profesional. También hemos tenido mejorías en la Primaria y contamos con nuevo personal y cambios de asignación.

Queremos interactuar con ustedes y sus familias. Nuestra Noche de Regreso a Clases será el jueves 14 de agosto de 5:00 a 7:00 pm. Tendremos la dedicación del patio de recreo a las 5:00 y la Plática Bullpup para conocer a los directores a las 6:00.

Durante el año deseamos contar con más voluntarios que apoyen a nuestros maestros en las clases y el aprendizaje de los estudiantes. El Search Institute ha identificado el apoyo e involucramiento de los padres en la escuela de sus hijos como uno de los 40 recursos de desarrollo necesarios para un mayor éxito estudiantil. Para su información, cada año los voluntarios deben completar una verificación de antecedentes y ser autorizados para ayudar en las escuelas de Nyssa. No tiene ningún costo para nuestros voluntarios, y como sabemos que su tiempo es valioso, queremos facilitar este proceso.

La Organización de Padres y Maestros de la Primaria (PTO) también necesita padres que apoyen en las actividades y recaudación de fondos para la escuela. Puede comunicarse con nuestro PTO al correo nyssapto@gmail.com.

Elementary -- Parents, we have a lot of student's stuff left at the Elementary on the last day of school. Some of the envelopes include your child's report card, their awards, and more. Please come into the school lobby to check and see if your child has anything that was left the last days of school. Anything left after June 13th will be thrown away. The End of the Year Awards Assembly for Grades 1-5 will be tomorrow, May 29th starting at 1:00 pm. It will be at our Mac Hall Gym (where the monthly awards assemblies take place). After each assembly, we will be giving all families free books to take home! What's Happening this Week @ Nyssa Elementary School ¿Qué está pasando esta semana en la Escuela Primaria de Nyssa? ========================================================= The Yearbook Club still has 20 yearbooks to sell. If you did not purchase one and you want to get one for your student please send check or cash to the school with the student's name, homeroom teacher, and have them bring it to the office. We will get it labeled and delivered the same day we get the money. Yearbooks are $25.00. Al Club del Anuario todavía le quedan 20 anuarios por vender.
