Inter-District Transfers

By Oregon State Law and Nyssa School District Policy, students are assigned a "resident school district," based on the legal resident address of their parent or legal guardian. Students may transfer between districts if the student receives consent to transfer from both the district of residence and the receiving district.

Inter-District transfer requests must be completed yearly for approval from "resident home district" and receiving district. Student(s) granted transfers will comply with the receiving district rules and policies. Transportation is not required of the receiving school unless deemed necessary by law.

Yearly, by March 1st, the Board of Directors will announce the deadline for inter-district transfer requests and the number of requests allowed for the following school year.

Deadline for in-person Inter-District Transfer Requests for the 2025-26 school year: June 15th

All transfer requests are to be turned into the District Office for the Superintendents review.

Inter-District Transfer requests are contingent upon meeting behavior and attendance expectations:

  • Attendance of 90% or greater;

  • May include, but not limited to no more than one suspension per academic year; no suspension of, or greater than, five days;

  • No expulsions;

  • Timely transportation is the responsibility of the family.
