Dean of Students/Teacher on Special Assignment, Nyssa Elementary School

The person assuming this position will take the school lead in matters relating to student behavior, and as such, should be familiar with the following:

  • Proactive methods of addressing behavior issues that emphasize what to do rather than what not to do.
  • Positive Behavior Systems and techniques
  • Restorative Justice methods
  • Preventative measures to follow in and out of the classroom
  • Communicating clearly, effectively, and positively with students, parents, and staff.
  • Big picture thinker who recognizes the value of establishing a safe and positive campus environment toward overall student success.

 

Athletic Director, Nyssa High School

  • Scheduling all high school athletic events
  • Preparing for and supervising all high school athletic events
  • Evaluating athletic programs and coaches
  • The full time equivalent (FTE) for the position will range from .7 to 1.0
  • Salary TBD
  • No certification required

Dual Language Program Classroom Teacher, K-3rd Grades (2 needed), Nyssa Elementary School:

  • Bilingual, Spanish and English, required.
  • Experience, knowledge, and interest in dual language programs preferred.
  • Proven ability to engage a classroom of students with high level activity.
  • Proven ability to use formative assessment in core academic areas in order to drive instruction.
  • Interest in becoming part of a motivated team of educators working to continuously improve education delivery.
  • 2+ years of teaching experience preferred (not required) at primary grades K-3rd.
           

Classroom Teacher, K-3rd Grades, Nyssa Elementary School:

  • Proven ability to engage a classroom of students with high level activity.
  • Proven ability to use formative assessment in core academic areas in order to drive instruction.
  • Interest in becoming part of a motivated team of educators working to continuously improve education delivery.
  • Bilingual, Spanish and English, preferred. 2+ years of teaching experience preferred at primary grades K-3rd . 
           
 

Special Education Teacher, K-5th Grades, Nyssa Elementary School (1 position)                  Special Education Teacher, Middle and High School for High Needs students (1 position)

  • Proven ability to work with a variety of teachers in support of core classroom curriculum.
  • Proven ability to maintain a broad student caseload, the goals pertinent to each student, and the staff and parent communication needed to optimize learning.
  • Interest in becoming part of a motivated team of educators working to continuously improve education delivery.
           

Counselor, Nyssa High School:

       Counselor Qualifications Required

  •  Current Oregon TSPC MS/HS School Counselor License.
  • Ability to recognize and adjust practices to support historically under-served students;
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and techniques working with at-risk youth and youth in crisis;
  • Demonstrated behavior management techniques;
  • Demonstrated understanding and judgment regarding student safety;
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively and collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, administrators, students, parents, and patrons;
  • Ability to meet the Oregon Standards of Competent Teacher Performance;
  • Ability to know, understand, and adhere to school rules and District policies.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a current first aid/CPR card.
       Counselor Qualifications Desired
  • Knowledge of College Admissions and Financial Aid processes.
  • Knowledge and experience in effective school practices.
  • Willingness to immerse in the culture and traditions of Nyssa HS and willingness to coach and/or advise clubs.
           

English Language Arts Instructor, Nyssa High School and Nyssa Middle School:

       ELA Qualifications Required

  • Current Oregon Teaching License allowing instruction at the middle school or high school level.
  • Ability to recognize and adjust practices to support historically under-served students;
  • Demonstrated positive classroom management skills;
  • Knowledge and skills in instruction / learning methods and techniques;
  • Demonstrated behavior management techniques;
  • Demonstrated understanding and judgment regarding student safety;
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively and collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, administrators, students, parents, and patrons;
  • Ability to meet the Oregon Standards of Competent Teacher Performance;
  • Ability to know, understand, and adhere to school rules and District policies.

       ELA Qualifications Desired

  • Ability to convey the students’ learning abilities and needs to parents and colleagues.
  • Successful E/LA teaching experience at the secondary level.
  • Knowledge and experience in teacher effectiveness, effective school practices, and discipline techniques.
  • Knowledge and experience with proficiency-based teaching and learning.
  • Ability to evaluate the educational strengths and needs of students, and differentiate instruction for the success of all studentsx
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a current first aid/CPR card.
  • Willingness to coach and/or advise clubs.
           

English Language Development Teacher - Nyssa High School / Nyssa Middle School

  • Current Oregon teaching license or ability to obtain one.
  • Proven ability to engage a classroom of students with high level activity.
  • Proven ability to use formative assessment in order to drive instruction.
  • Interest in becoming part of a motivated team of educators working to continuously improve education delivery.
  • Bilingual, Spanish and English, preferred.
